Heal: Different Modalities to Try

There is no one-size-fits-all healing program when it comes to making peace with your body. We have such different lived experiences that there’s no way we could expect to heal the same way.

Some strategies are powerfully healing for many folks, so you’ll hear them mentioned frequently. But there’s nothing wrong with you if a popular healing technique doesn’t resonate.

I’m a firm believer that you just need to find one healing modality that does resonate to get started. Then practice it consistently. That’s how the healing magic happens.

Over the course of your journey, you may add other healing techniques, and you’ll probably let some go. I had an overflowing pocketbook of healing modalities that I used at various times (and sometimes still incorporate) in my own body-acceptance journey. Here’s a partial list in no particular order:

  • Journaling love notes to my body’s parts
  • Wild Soul Movement
  • Giving myself hugs
  • Creating sensory experiences
  • Solo travel
  • Praying
  • Forgiveness work
  • Rage-room experience
  • Intuitive healing
  • Therapy
  • Seeking support from my loved ones
  • Boundaries work
  • Gratitude practice
  • Retreat days
  • Magical Miracle practice
  • Meditation
  • Making offerings
  • Learning more about how I’m made, i.e. astrology and human design and Myers Briggs
  • Joining a like-minded community working on personal freedom
  • Caring for my basic needs
  • Well-checks
  • Hiking
  • Getting outside more
  • Sharing with others
  • Reading books
  • Ditching diet culture
  • Listening to podcasts
  • Empowering photo shoot

Each of these made an impact on my journey to make peace with my body. I used some of these strategies daily, and others only a few times, or even just once. And I imagine that I’ll incorporate even more modalities as I continue on this lifelong path.

What healing strategies have worked for you? Is there anything on my list that you’re curious about and interested in trying?
